Um, wow. That pretty much sums up Wednesday night’s Best of Texas charity event that raised almost $700 for The Bridge homeless center (in addition to collecting four boxes of items from The Bridge’s wish list) and netted Squawker’s very own Amanda W. $5,000 in shopping money courtesy of TLC’s What Not To Wear.
Thanks to Best of Texas Marketing Director, Ashley Wikes and Amanda’s very own hubby, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly were on hand to shame poor Amanda into a closet makeover that will have her hauling her embattled wardrobe to New York, taking a spin in the unforgiving 360 mirror and trolling Manhattan boutiques for new duds. Can’t. Wait. But, back to last night.
Even though the weather was uncooperative, a good-sized, 125+ crowd showed up at Jack’s Backyard to down $3 margaritas and jam to Dallas band Eastwood. The music was infectious, even to this hip-hop lover, and, with the help of the margaritas, I found myself bobbing my head to a few country-flavored gems.
Luckily for the band (and for Best of Texas), What Not To Wear’s camera crew caught the evening’s highlights on camera for the upcoming show. The best part, of course, was when Stacy and Clinton dropped the bombshell on Amanda, who was dutifully filming Eastwood for the Web site.
She happened to be wearing her usual uniform of a dress over jeans, with flip-flops, a hoodie and her hair knotted into what was later likened to a Bjork-esque ‘do. Sizing up Amanda’s attire, Stacy said, “We’ve seen that you like to wear more than one outfit at a time,” to which Amanda countered, “It’s layers.” Despite visibly shaking throughout the entire conversation, Amanda spilled nary a drop of her Shiner (a fact that did not go unnoticed by the admiring Clinton) and managed to later sing backup vocals for Eastwood. Then it was off for more filming at Hotel ZaZa, where the stars and crew were staying.
Next up: Amanda’s big reveal. Talk about bombshells.
Editor’s note: Special thanks to Eastwood’s Kevin Minihan for the photos.

To all BOTx folks,
We (Eastwood) had a blast being a part of this and feel honored that you’d want us there. Thanks for including us. It was a fantastic event, and great that such an opportunity goes to such a deserving person like Amanda… who pours her heart and soul into everything she does and puts everyone else before herself.
Dave
That’s how Amanda has been as long as I have known her. She always thinks of everyone else first and herself second. I think this is going to be a great opportunity for her and it couldn’t happen to a nicer gal!
