So, autumn has finally made its way to North Texas and the weather is beautiful. What better way to celebrate the great weather and fall’s arrival than to get out of the house this weekend?! Of course, the State Fair of Texas opens up for 2009 this weekend. There’s plenty of fried butter, car shows and giant teddy bears to go around if you find yourself out at Fair Park. It’s a DFW past time, and we’ll be sure to make our way out there sometime in the next few weeks.
If you’re in the mood for food, drinks, festivities and entertainment, but at a smaller (ok, and a tad less packed) venue, check out the All About Uptown Festival going on tomorrow, Saturday. (We’ll be there!) This “celebration of art and living” starts at 11am and goes until 10pm. If you’re all about parades, then don’t miss the McKinney Avenue Trolley parade starting at 10am. You can find more info about the parade at the MATA website. The festival will be held on Fairmount Street, between McKinney Avenue and Howell. The best part- IT’S COMPLETELY FREE TO GET IN!
Festival goers can enjoy entertainment by A Hard Day’s Night, Beto and the Fairlanes and Brave Combo. Those with food and beverages on the brain can hit up the booths of Geisha House, The Ginger Man, Greenz, Rosewood Crescent Court, I Fratelli Pizza, Sambuca, The Londoner, Primo’s Bar & Grill and many more. Activities include an area for the pets to frolic, Dean Foods Kids Korner and booths for the many artists, spas, and other great businesses that call Uptown home.
Of course, Best of Texas will have a booth at the event. If you come visit us, we promise you won’t be disappointed. Everyone that signs up to be a FREE member at our booth automatically enters to win some awesome prizes from some great Uptown businesses:
A little birdy also mentioned that free advertising for businesses will be given away at the Best of Texas booth. But sshhhhhh.
