Texas®

Hi all…

I wanted to give you an update on all the donations for tomorrow night’s charity raffle and What Not to Wear watching party. We’ve had some pretty generous donations come in since Monday….

Attendees can buy raffle tickets for $1 each, and 100% of the proceeds will go to Attitudes & Attire. Buy early and buy often to increase your chances of winning your favorite item or items. The more money you help us raise, the more women Attitudes & Attire can help!

Raffle packages include:

In late March of this year, Best of Texas threw a charity event, (you all helped us raised a ton of cash and a carload of donations for The Bridge, btw) with the help of their friends at Jack’s Backyard and local Dallas band, Eastwood. Little did I know I’d been nominated for TLC’s hit show, ‘What Not to Wear’ by my husband, Joshua. So it was at the event that Stacy and Clinton pounced.

When I returned from my trip to New York, I wanted to find a way help give others a taste of the experience, because being on the show gave me far more than just a new wardrobe. Stacy and Clinton genuinely helped me find my confidence again. (Think ten years of cognitive behavioral therapy in a matter of days.) I knew we’d promised everyone a watching party, so it just made sense that we turn the party into a charity raffle that would benefit Attitudes & Attire. Read more

cannonI’ve met a lot of people who fancy themselves jewelry designers. Hell, I worked at James Avery Craftsman for six years and thought my ability to solder charms on a bracelet made me some sort of (hack) jeweler. But Dallas’ Cannon Lewis McClintock is the real deal. And she’s been doing it since she was old enough to string beads. She tells the story of taking a little notebook around to local stores and interviewing designers and buyers to get insight into the jewelry-making industry. She did this mostly while still dressed in her Trinity Christian Academy uniform. She’s what you might call an early bloomer. Now she’s all grown up, and today and tomorrow you can see the fruits of her labor at a trunk show in Stanley Korshak‘s fine jewelry department.

trunk2She’ll be showing three collections: Captivate, consisting of pieces in 14-karat gold and sterling silver with enclosed stones, carving and poetry engraving; Life, also featuring gold and silver items but with an edgier look—sand-blasted silver, longer necklaces, black stones, pendants with hidden words and carved words that are visible through the gemstones; and finally Prouve, French for “I found,” which includes items inspired by found objects in nature (sand dollars, doves, etc.) as well as delicate pendants that you might discover in an old jewelry box. There are lots of one-of-a-kind pieces, and everything is handmade and designed by Cannon. Pricing starts at $50 and goes up to about $5,000. The designer herself tells me there are plenty of great finds to be had at any price point. She’ll be on-site today and tomorrow for the trunk show, and you can toast her this afternoon from 4 to 6 p.m. at a cocktail reception at Korshak. Better check her out while you can—she’ll be calling New York City home come August.
