This week we met a dynamic and highly conversational trio living in north Ft. Worth and if their names sound familiar, I’m not surprised. Though they don’t live remotely close to Hazzard County, Georgia and there’s no corrupt county commissioner or buffoonish sheriff on their tails, Luke, a pit bull mix, Beau, a basset/beagle mix and Daisy, a cocker/rottie mix do get into their fair share of shenanigans. And for the record, Daisy and Luke live together, Beau lives up the street.
Hi, how’re you doing this week?
Luke: Great! We have a visitor this week! Someone new to play with!
Daisy: Yep! Our good buddy Beau is here while his daddy and mommy are out of town.
Beau: Hiya!
How long have you lived in the area?
Daisy: We were all born here. Mom and Dad got me in March 2008, and their friend, Uncle Jimmy, got Beau the same day. They had all JUST arrived from what they call the “East Coast” the very day they got us. No furniture and a big empty house. They said they stopped by PetSmart just to waste some time and ended up taking us home!
Beau: Boy, am I glad too. I was so sad that I didn’t have a forever home. When I saw my dad, I just climbed up into his arms and didn’t wanna leave. I may whine a lot, but I sure am grateful he took me home that day.
Daisy: Yep, and then three months later, Mom and Dad were at PetSmart getting us food, and they came home with my brother Luke, who was only four pounds! He was teeny weeny and we didn’t know what he was!
Luke: I was?
Daisy: Yep, but you’ve caught up to me now…
Luke: I’m bigger!
How do you spend your days and weekends?
Daisy: Well, Luke and I like to play, sleep, eat, play… Dad says I sound like Chewbacca when I play. I LOVE to get belly rubs! OH, and I love to give kisses!
Luke: I like to curl up on my mommy or daddy and take naps. When Mommy is working, I curl up on the chair behind her and sleep. I used to nap on her lap, but I’m too big now.
Beau: Not too different at my house… Sleep, play, eat. I try to play with my brother-cat Langston, but he’s not too keen on it. Yet. he’s still new.
Do you have any favorite toys or treats?
Luke: We like the kongs. Mmmm, that creamy peanutty stuff. Any food.
Daisy: I like rawhides and the kongs. And the stuffed squeaky toys. But I like to tear them up. I’m not sure what it is about that fluffy inside…
Beau: I like any toy, as long as I can play keep away with it. I like to steal toys then get everyone to chase me.
Daisy: Yup, that’s fun too. Except I don’t like it when my toy gets stolen.
Do you have any favorite local animal organizations or charities?
Daisy: Yes! We all came from Paw Pals of Haltom City. Our foster parents and the people who work there were all super nice and gave us lots of love. Sadly, there are still lots of other doggies who could use homes.
Luke: Even tho’ he’s not a charity, I’d like to give a shout out to our doctor, Dr. Rickords – he’s the BEST! WOOOO!
Beau: Yea, he’s so nice! He’s taken care of us since we were puppies. We’ve even stayed the night there, and they gave us lots of hugs and kisses and played with us lots.
Can you tell us a bit about your people?
Luke: Lessee, our mommy and daddy came from the “East Coast” with their friend Uncle Jimmy about a year ago. They stayed with Uncle Jimmy and Beau until their house was built in July, and got married in November. Mommy works from home and Daddy has weird hours.
Daisy: Yep. And Daddy is silly and likes to get down on the ground and pretend he’s a puppy too. Mommy just laughs and says he’s gross when he puts our toys in his mouth.
Beau: My dad is really relaxed, and my ma, who dad met after he got me, likes to spoil me with kisses and snuggles. My dad works from home too. It’s nice, I like the attention.
Any final thoughts?
Daisy: Nope, just gonna go look out the window and see if anything exciting is… OOO, there’s a bird!
Luke: Where where!? OO, there’s a human!
Daisy: Oh, where!?
Beau: Hey, you guys wanna play?!
Daisy: Yep!!
Luke: Yea yea!
Beau: Catch me if you can!!

Yay! Luke and Daisy say HI!
