The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS: DIFFA recently announced hip-hop’s first lady, Grammy award winner and film star Queen Latifah will host DIFFA 2010 to be held March 3 at The Margot and Bill Winspear Opera House.  The celebration of the design disciplines includes preview shows of Abi Ferrin and Johnny Bechard Collections.

Renowned Fort Worth choreographer Bruce Wood will take the stage for a dance performance and the night will include a series of design acknowledgment awards including s special architectural design excellence award for Pritzker prize-winning architect Norman Foster for his design of the Winspear Opera House.

“This is just a sneak peek to all of what we have in store for a magical evening,” says event co-chair David Hess.  “We have many more surprises to be announced over the next few months.”

DIFFA 2010 will be different from the past 20 years,” says DIFFA Chairman of the Board Dr. Gary Tigges.  “We are celebrating all of the design industries — art, music, fashion, design and architecture –  that founded DIFFA and supported the Foundation throughout the years to create millions of dollars to help those living with HIV and AIDS.”

With the metamorphosis of DIFFA’s signature Collection event, the popular silent auction will take place at the Ben E. Keith DIFFA 2010 Silent Auction Party, February 3 (6-10pm) in the beautifully renovated Union Station in downtown Dallas.  For more information go to www.DIFFADallas.org.  Tickets are $25 in advance and $35 at the door.

“We wanted the focus of DIFFA 2010 to be on the show itself and made the choice to have the auction earlier,” says Samuel Stiles, DIFFA Director of Development.  “This year we will not only have the popular denim jackets reworked by the fashion industries finest, but also dog houses designed by architects, pillows styled by interior designers, handbags by fashion/accessory designers and decorative boxes by jewelers and artists.”

DIFFA 2010 Stage Show and Benefit Concert will be held March 3 (6:30pm) at the Winspear Opera House, 2403 Flora Street in the AT&T Performing Arts Center.  Tickets go on sale in early January starting at $250 per person at www.DIFFADallas.org or For sponsor and ticket information call 214.748.8580 or email sstiles@diffa.org.
