Eight of Dallas’s premier DJs will be battling it out in a head-to-head format know as Red Bull Thre3Style come February 19th! Competing DJ’s include Joe Vega, NVS, Danny West, Fishr Pryce, Danny V, Trek, D-Roz and Rev.

Headlining the show is none other than DJ Mix Master Mike of The Beastie Boys. Guest judges include notable DJs and industry leaders including DJ A1 from the Cannabinoids, Kwasar of Chocolate Groove, DJ Enferno, Delano, Ben of the Rec Shop and DJ Sober.

Red Bull Thre3 Style - whos the best party rocker in the Big D?Not quite your standard DJ battle—far from it actually—Red Bull THRE3Style is a creative and innovative event format where the true art of party rockin’ is put to the test. Red Bull Thre3Style is a DJ contest that promises to be a night of dance-floor mayhem. Each DJ is challenged to play a selection of at least three genres or styles of music in a 15 minute set. Genres don’t matter, all that matters is the DJs ability to mix them and make them work together.

Participating DJs are judged on their track-selection, technical skills, creativity and most importantly their ability to bring the house down. It doesn’t matter if they know all the DJing tricks and techniques in the book, if they can’t get the feet on the dance floor and hands in the air, they don’t stand a chance of winning a Red Bull Thre3Style.

More than 20 US Qualifiers will take place this year. The winner of each qualifier will win $1,000 US and compete in a Regional final. The Winner of each regional battle wins the chance to fly to Las Vegas in November for the national Red Bull THRE3Style Championship. The national champ then travels to Vancouver, Canada to compete in the global finals against the world’s best party-rock DJs in hopes of being crowned the International Red Bull THRE3Style champion!

As the first awards platform to celebrate the kind of food we all want to eat – tasty, authentic, and responsible – the Good Food Awards received over 780 products from 41 states. Today winners will be announced at the Good Food Awards Ceremony hosted by Alice Waters at the San Francisco Ferry Building, followed by a Marketplace event on January 15, 2011 where food lovers will be able to talk shop with producers, plus taste and pur- chase the award-winning products.

The Good Food Awards celebrate the kind of food we all want to eat: tasty, authentic, and responsible. This pioneering initiative grants awards to out- standing American food producers and the farmers who provide their ingredients. In its inaugural year, Good Food Awards will be given to winners in seven categories: beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, pickles and preserves.

Awards will be given to producers and their food communities from each of five regions of the US. The Good Food Awards seal, found on winning products, assures consumers they have found something exceptionally delicious that also supports sustainability and social good. Winners are announced at an annual Awards Ceremony and Marketplace at the iconic Ferry Building in San Francisco to honor new Good Food Award recipients and also organize a month of events and tastings to support the wider community making good food.

Two men charged with driving while intoxicated had their charges dropped after police arrested them for riding a horse and donkey down a crowded street in downtown Austin.

The two were coaxing passers-by to take pictures and pet their horse and mule. Police said the two were impeding traffic and could have caused an accident.

Officers conducted a field sobriety test on the two and then charged them with driving while intoxicated.

Those charges were later dropped for both Mr Rios and Mr Olvio because the legal definition of a motor vehicle in relation to DUI charges is too vague, but Mr Rios was charged with public intoxication.

Yee. Haw.

It began with an eviction notice and a pile of lemons.

When Brooklyn-based guitarist Lily Maase learned that she and her band, the Suite Unraveling, would be evicted from their loft in Greenpoint in early November, the fiery-headed Shred for Your Life champion, robot party architect, and neighborhood guitar hero decided to take matters into her own hands.

Maase and her two bandmates, saxophonist/Farfisa organist Michael Kammers and drummer/keyboardist Curt Garey, took the lemons they’d been handed and decided to make lemonade–literally.

After losing the roof over their heads, the thousands of dollars they’d poured into converting the two-story warehouse into a serviceable living and rehearsal space, and their touring vehicle to a delivery truck’s poorly-calculated turn, the band mounted a fundraising campaign through Kickstarter, a not-for-profit website that helps small arts organizations garner startup capital through individual contributions.

74 donors from around the world contributed as much as $300 and as little as $3.75 to

the Suite Unraveling Traveling Lemonade Stand and Musical Revue, which will be making music and freshly-squeezed lemonade for 35 venues and universities between California and New York in January 2011.

Lily Maase and the Suite Unraveling will perform at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center Wednesday, January 19 at 9:00pm.  The Monks of Saturnalia will open with a set at 7:30pm.

The Suite Unraveling will also perform at Dan’s Silverleaf on Saturday, January 22 at 9:00pm.  Austin math rockers Megafauna, as well as local artists Drew Phelps and Sky Window will also be on the bill.

he Greyhound Adoption League of Texas (GALT) celebrates 10 years of saving greyhound lives with The Greyt Gala: Operation Forever Home to be held at February 26 (6pm-11pm) at The Frontiers of Flight Museum.

“In honor of GALT’s anniversary, we wanted our 10th annual fundraising event to be stellar,” says GALT founder John McQuade, who joins Shannon Forrest as co-chair of the event. “To date, GALT has helped save more than 2,000 retired racers and displaced greyhounds into forever homes and will continue to raise funds for this gentle breed.”

This year’s celebrity guest is Colonel (ret) Rich Graham, SR-71 Spy Plane Pilot. A command pilot with more than 4,600 military flying hours, Colonel Graham’s military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross with three oak leaf clusters, Air Medal with 18 oak leaf clusters, Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with “V” device and one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Organizational Excellence Award, Combat Readiness Medal with one oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with four service stars, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm, and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.

A custom menu from Two Sisters Catering of Dallas, cocktails, live/silent auctions and gift bags are included.

Cost is $125 per person. The Frontiers of Flight Museum is located at 6911 Lemmon Avenue (75209) in Dallas near Love Field Airport. To purchase tickets go to www.galtx.org or call 972-503-GALT.
